A quick and easy grilled garlic bread recipe featuring thick Texas toast slices slathered with garlic butter and herbs, perfect for BBQ sides and summer cookouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Thick sliced Texas Toast bread
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 45 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup (25g) grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium heat, about 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine softened unsalted butter, minced fresh garlic, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan (if using), salt, and freshly cracked black pepper. Mix well until evenly distributed.
  3. Lightly brush both sides of each Texas toast slice with olive oil to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  4. Generously spread the prepared garlic butter mixture on one side of each bread slice.
  5. Place the bread buttered side down on the grill. Close the lid and cook for about 2-3 minutes, checking frequently to avoid burning, until golden and crispy with grill marks.
  6. Use tongs to flip the bread and grill the other side for 1-2 minutes until warmed and slightly toasted.
  7. Remove the grilled garlic bread from the grill and transfer to a serving platter. Optionally, sprinkle extra parsley or Parmesan on top for garnish.

Notes

Chill garlic butter for 10 minutes before spreading if it melts too fast. Control grill heat to medium to avoid burning. Move bread to cooler spots if heat is uneven. For vegan version, use dairy-free butter and omit Parmesan. For gluten-free, use thick-sliced gluten-free bread sturdy enough for grilling. Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep crispness; reheat on grill or toaster oven instead.
