A quick and easy romantic dessert featuring a smooth blend of dark and milk chocolate with fresh strawberries, perfect for intimate occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces (115g) good-quality dark chocolate (60-70% cacao)
  • 2 ounces (55g) milk chocolate
  • ½ cup (120ml) heavy cream, at room temperature
  • 1 pint (about 12 medium) fresh strawberries, washed and dried
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the strawberries under cold water and dry them thoroughly with paper towels. Set aside.
  2. Finely chop both the dark and milk chocolate into small, even pieces.
  3. Gently warm the heavy cream over low heat in a small saucepan until it just starts to simmer; do not boil.
  4. Place the chopped chocolate in a heatproof bowl. Pour the warm cream over the chocolate and let it sit for about 1 minute to soften.
  5. Gently stir the chocolate and cream together with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula until smooth and glossy. If needed, place the bowl over simmering water (double boiler) and stir gently to melt any lumps.
  6. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of sea salt to enhance the flavor.
  7. Pour the melted chocolate mixture into a fondue pot or serving bowl. If using a fondue pot, light the candle to keep the chocolate warm.
  8. Speared a strawberry with a skewer or fondue fork and dip it into the warm chocolate. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

Use a double boiler to melt chocolate gently and avoid burning. Ensure strawberries are completely dry to prevent chocolate from seizing. Keep chocolate warm in a fondue pot or rewarm gently if it thickens. For dairy-free or vegan versions, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream and use dairy-free chocolate.
