A quick and easy recipe for spicy, crispy Korean gochujang chicken wings made in the air fryer, perfect for game nights or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, fresh or thawed, trimmed if needed
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (low-sodium recommended)
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: toasted sesame seeds, thinly sliced green onions, fresh cilantro leaves

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
  2. Season wings evenly with salt, black pepper, and baking powder.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Arrange wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket without overcrowding.
  5. Cook wings for 10 minutes, then flip and cook for another 10-15 minutes until golden and crispy. Cook in batches if necessary.
  6. While wings cook, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, honey, minced garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until smooth and glossy.
  7. Transfer cooked wings to a large bowl and toss gently with the gochujang sauce to coat evenly.
  8. For extra crispiness, return sauced wings to the air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning the sauce.
  9. Serve wings hot, sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions.

Notes

Pat wings dry before seasoning for maximum crispiness. Use aluminum-free baking powder to avoid metallic taste. Apply sauce after cooking to keep wings crispy. Cook in batches if air fryer basket is small. Reheat in air fryer to maintain crispiness.
