These easy mummy hot dogs with crescent roll wraps are the perfect Halloween treat. Quick, fun, and guaranteed to get smiles from kids and adults alike, they come together in under 20 minutes using just three main ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 standard-size hot dogs (all-beef recommended)
  • 2 cans crescent roll dough (8 rolls each, Pillsbury recommended)
  • Yellow mustard (for mummy faces)
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough carefully. Separate the dough along the perforated lines to get individual triangles (8 per can).
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3-4 thin strips, about 1/2-inch wide.
  4. Take one hot dog and start wrapping a dough strip around it, leaving a small gap near the top for the mummy’s face. Overlap the strips slightly as you go. Press the ends gently to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Optional: Melt 2 tablespoons of butter and brush it over the tops of the dough for a golden color.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed, and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Let the mummy hot dogs cool for 2-3 minutes on the baking sheet. Using a toothpick or the tip of a knife, dot on two small eyes with yellow mustard.
  9. Serve immediately. These are best eaten warm.

Notes

Keep the dough cold for easier handling. Don’t over-wrap the hot dogs; 2-3 strips per hot dog is plenty. Let them cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent melting. You can wrap the hot dogs up to 4 hours ahead and refrigerate until baking. For freezing, freeze unbaked wrapped hot dogs for up to 1 month and bake from frozen, adding 2-3 minutes to baking time.
