A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in buttery golden crescent roll dough to look like mummies. Perfect for parties and quick snacks.

Ingredients

  • Golden crescent roll dough (refrigerated)
  • Hot dogs or cocktail sausages
  • Cheese slices or strips (optional)
  • Black sesame seeds or peppercorns (for eyes)
  • Yellow mustard or ketchup (optional, for dipping or decorating)
  • Optional: dried herbs like rosemary or thyme for sprinkling
  • Optional: egg wash (1 beaten egg mixed with 1 teaspoon water) for shinier crust

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Unroll the crescent dough gently from the package and separate it into triangles.
  3. Slice each triangle into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  4. Wrap each hot dog with the dough strips in a crisscross pattern, leaving a small gap near one end for the face.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing about 1 inch apart.
  6. Optional: Brush the dough lightly with egg wash for a shinier finish.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  8. Remove from oven and press two black sesame seeds or peppercorns onto the dough near the gap to create the mummy’s eyes.
  9. Cool for a few minutes before serving. Best enjoyed warm.

Notes

Let the crescent dough sit out for 5-10 minutes before wrapping to make it easier to handle. Use thin strips for authentic mummy look. Add cheese slices inside for a cheesy variation. Freeze wrapped hot dogs on a baking sheet for make-ahead convenience. Avoid microwaving leftovers to keep dough crisp.
