Quick, colorful, and festive layered jello shots perfect for patriotic parties like the 4th of July. These shots combine sweet, tart, and boozy flavors with a creamy white layer for a show-stopping treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup cranberry juice (unsweetened or lightly sweetened for tartness)
  • 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) red flavored gelatin (cranberry or cherry)
  • 1/4 cup vodka (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin
  • 1/2 cup cold water
  • 1/4 cup vodka (optional)
  • 1 cup blueberry juice (fresh or bottled, no sugar added preferred)
  • 1 packet (3 oz / 85 g) blue flavored gelatin (blueberry or grape)
  • 1/4 cup vodka (optional)
  • Non-stick spray or a little oil for greasing the shot molds or pan
  • Fresh berries for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup cranberry juice until hot but not boiling (about 2-3 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in the red gelatin powder until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add 1/4 cup vodka if using, stir gently. Pour this mixture evenly into your shot glasses or molds, filling about one-third of each. Place in the fridge to set for 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Mix the White Layer: While the red layer sets, sprinkle the unflavored gelatin over 1/2 cup cold water and let it bloom for 5 minutes. Heat the bloomed gelatin gently in the microwave or over a double boiler until melted. In a separate bowl, mix sweetened condensed milk with the melted gelatin until smooth. Stir in 1/4 cup vodka (optional). Once the red layer is set but tacky, carefully spoon or pour the white mixture on top, filling another third of each mold. Return to the fridge for another 3…
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Heat 1 cup blueberry juice until hot (about 2-3 minutes). Stir in the blue gelatin powder until dissolved. Add vodka if using. Pour gently over the set white layer, filling to the top. Chill for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  4. Final Touch: Once fully chilled, gently pop the jello shots from molds or serve directly in shot glasses. Garnish with fresh blueberries or a small piece of strawberry on top for a festive look.

Notes

Pour each layer slowly to avoid mixing colors, using the back of a spoon to soften the fall of the liquid. Let each layer chill until firm but still tacky before adding the next. Use fresh juices when possible for better flavor. Vodka is optional and can be replaced with extra juice or sparkling water for a non-alcoholic version. Store covered in the fridge for up to 3 days; do not freeze.
