These fresh mini Caprese salad skewers are a quick, colorful, and kid-friendly snack featuring cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. Perfect for parties, lunchboxes, or a wholesome snack that kids love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 cherry tomatoes, rinsed and dried
  • 20 fresh mini mozzarella balls (bocconcini), drained
  • 20 small fresh basil leaves, washed and patted dry
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • About 20 small wooden skewers or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients: rinse and dry the cherry tomatoes and basil leaves carefully. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat them dry on paper towels to avoid sogginess.
  2. Optional: Toss the cherry tomatoes lightly in a bowl with a pinch of salt and a drizzle of olive oil. Let them sit for a few minutes while you prep the skewers.
  3. Assemble the skewers by threading one cherry tomato onto a skewer, followed by a basil leaf (folded if needed), then a mozzarella ball. Repeat until all ingredients are used.
  4. Arrange the skewers neatly on a serving platter or plate.
  5. Drizzle the balsamic glaze evenly over the skewers.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle freshly cracked black pepper over the top.
  7. Serve immediately or chill for up to 30 minutes before serving.

Notes

If prepping ahead, store assembled skewers covered in the fridge and wait to drizzle balsamic glaze until just before serving to keep cheese from getting soggy. Fold large basil leaves for manageable bites. For a warm variation, lightly grill skewers for 2 minutes per side. Use firm tofu cubes or vegan cheese balls for a dairy-free version.
