A quick and easy Halloween sangria made with blood orange juice, red wine, and simple ingredients. Ready in 10 minutes with a naturally spooky color, it’s a crowd-pleasing party drink that can be made ahead.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) fruity red wine (e.g., Garnacha or Zinfandel)
  • 1 cup blood orange juice
  • 1/2 cup orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau)
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup
  • 2 blood oranges, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup sparkling water or club soda
  • 1 cup ice cubes (plus more for serving)
  • Optional garnishes: fresh rosemary sprigs, star anise, pomegranate seeds

Instructions

  1. Wash blood oranges and slice into thin rounds (about 1/4 inch thick). Set aside a few slices for garnish.
  2. In a large pitcher, combine red wine, blood orange juice, orange liqueur, and honey. Stir vigorously for about 30 seconds until honey dissolves. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  3. Add sliced blood oranges to the pitcher. Gently press them with a spoon to release juice without mashing.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (up to 24 hours) to let flavors meld.
  5. Just before serving, gently stir in sparkling water or club soda and ice cubes.
  6. Fill glasses 3/4 full with sangria, ensuring each glass gets some fruit slices. Add optional garnishes if desired.

Notes

For best flavor, chill at least 30 minutes. Can be made a day ahead (add sparkling water just before serving). If sangria tastes too boozy, add more sparkling water or orange juice. If too sweet, add a squeeze of lemon juice. For a non-alcoholic version, replace wine with sparkling grape juice and skip the liqueur.
