Spooky Witch Finger Pretzel Rods: Easy White Chocolate Treat

witch finger pretzel rods - featured image

These spooky witch finger pretzel rods with white chocolate are creepy enough to make people do a double-take, but one bite and they’re hooked. The saltiness of the pretzel cuts through the sweetness of the white chocolate, and that almond fingernail gives it a satisfying crunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1215 pretzel rods (thick, sturdy ones like Snyder’s of Hanover)
  • 12 ounces white chocolate melting wafers (e.g., Ghirardelli or CandiQuik)
  • 30 slivered almonds (flat and uniform)
  • Red food coloring gel (e.g., Wilton brand)
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Small paintbrush (optional)

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper. Set aside where it won’t be disturbed.
  2. Place white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and fully melted (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total).
  3. Hold a pretzel rod by one end and dip it into the melted white chocolate, rotating to coat about two-thirds. Let excess drip back into the bowl. Place on parchment paper. Repeat with remaining pretzels, leaving space between each.
  4. While chocolate is still wet, press a slivered almond onto the tip of each pretzel rod, pointed end outward like a fingernail. Press gently to stick.
  5. Use a toothpick or small knife to draw 2-3 horizontal lines across the chocolate-coated part to create knuckle wrinkles, spaced about an inch apart.
  6. Dip a small paintbrush or toothpick into red food coloring gel. Paint a thin line around the base of the almond fingernail (cuticle area). Add tiny dots or streaks near knuckle lines for extra creepiness.
  7. Place baking sheet in refrigerator for 15-20 minutes until chocolate is completely firm.
  8. Once set, arrange on a platter and serve immediately or store as directed.

Notes

Work in small batches to keep chocolate from setting. If chocolate thickens, microwave for 10 seconds. For best results, make the day you plan to serve. Do not refrigerate after setting to avoid softening pretzels. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free white chocolate.
