A quick and easy cast iron skillet dessert that captures all the gooey, toasted goodness of classic campfire s’mores without the mess. Perfect for gatherings or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup graham crackers, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 cups large marshmallows or mini marshmallows
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). If using a campfire, prepare for indirect heat.
  2. Brush the cast iron skillet with the melted butter, coating the entire surface.
  3. Sprinkle half of the chocolate chips evenly over the bottom of the skillet.
  4. Layer half of the marshmallows over the chocolate chips, spreading them out evenly.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips on top of the marshmallow layer.
  6. Top with the remaining marshmallows, covering the entire surface.
  7. Place the skillet in the oven or over the campfire and bake for 10-12 minutes until marshmallows are golden brown and puffed but not burned.
  8. Remove the skillet carefully and sprinkle a pinch of sea salt over the top.
  9. Serve immediately with graham crackers for dipping.

Notes

If marshmallows aren’t browning fast enough, switch oven to broil for the last 1-2 minutes but watch closely. Stir melted butter into chocolate chips before layering for extra gooeyness. Use vegan marshmallows and dairy-free chocolate for a vegan version. Graham crackers can be substituted with gluten-free crackers or pretzels for gluten-free option.
